This post wraps up #QuirkyOhio, our 2017 blog series highlighting Ohio’s odd, unusual and downright wacky experiences, places and events. Take a look back at our profiles to read about some of the quirkiest parts of the state!

On a recent business road trip to Cincinnati, our team was on a quest for a quick lunch before meeting with a prospective client. We turned to Yelp for recommendations, were steered to Sugar N’ Spice restaurant and immediately entered into a quirky wonderland!

Open for breakfast and lunch since 1941, Sugar N’ Spice is a colorful, family-friendly diner full of toys and is known for its trademark “wispy thin” pancakes as well as omeletts and sandwiches. You’ll know it by the incredibly quirky spinning pig statue out front, the vibrant pink hue of the building and the line of people queued up for breakfast or lunch almost any day of the week.

During our visit, our waitress gave us a bucket of unique rubber duckies to play with while we waited for our food – and then told us each to choose one to take home. I have to believe this is a huge hit with the actual kids who visit, as are the brightly painted murals and cartoon character artwork adorning the walls.

If you don’t want to take my word for it, check out rave reviews of Sugar N’ Spice from City Beat, Philly’s The Breakfast Grub Guy and Columbus’ own award-winning blogger, Breakfast with Nick – not to mention the hundreds of Yelpers who give it an average of 4 out of 5 stars.

If you’ve got a hankering for tasty, reasonably-priced breakfast food in a fun, brightly colored setting, then Sugar N’ Spice on Reading Road just outside of downtown Cincinnati is the place for you.

And if you liked our tour of #QuirkyOhio in 2017, you’ll love what we have planned for the blog in 2018. We look forward to your feedback below or over on Facebook!
