In the past, we’ve shared some reasons why Google Maps should be part of your brand communications strategy. Thanks to expanded video options for local influencers, tending to your organization’s Maps listing is more important than ever. Why? Because if content is king, video is the crown jewel.
- Videos on Facebook receive 135% more organic reach than photos, on average.
- 4X as many consumers want to watch product videos instead of reading reviews.
- 4 in 5 Millennials consider videos when researching purchase options.
Recently, Google began rolling out new functionality to its influencers — also known as Local Guides — that gives them the ability to upload videos to Maps listings. Sadly, only Local Guides with Android phones can add videos at this time, but videos can be viewed by anyone in Google Maps search results in any web browser.
In addition to basic management of online ratings and reviews, now is the perfect time to ramp up your local influencer marketing efforts to include videos on Google Maps.
If you’re a Local Guide and have an Android phone, Google has provided step-by-step instructions on how to upload your videos. You also may want to take a look at these video tips to make the most out of your posting.
